Our Story

Good News Lutheran community was established in 1977 as a community of people who wanted to worship together and help build the Centenary community, particularly by providing holistic support for children and their families. The Kindergarten, which commenced at the same time, continues strong and vibrant to this day, with some of our original students enrolling their own children! Good News Lutheran School commenced in 1984 and continues to be well regarded locally as a caring school with quality educational programs, and a leader in Lutheran education circles.

Beyond the primary years, we have our own youth ministry programs and also participate in Lutheran Youth of Queensland camps. Our congregation is truly multi-generational, and our small groups cover a range of ages and interests.

Our original church was part of the current Kindy building, and then in 2001 we opened a shared space within the Good News Lutheran School. Here Good News communities gather. Church services on Sunday and school chapels during the week. The facility is in the centre of the site.

As a group of people, we've celebrated our good news and united in facing challenges as they come - God's love and faithfulness never fail us.

Our Connection to LCA

Good News is a congregation of the Lutheran Church of Australia.

Our values reflect God’s grace and our Lutheran identity. We are a congregation where:

  • We welcome everyone as a child of God,

  • We are all sinners, growing our faith through God’s word,

  • We value relationships as a reflection of God’s love,

  • We use our God given gifts with transparency and accountability.
